October 5, 2000
Madison, Wisconsin

Visitors from around the world have seen, touched, smelled and even tasted the winning entries of hay, haylage, balage and corn silage at the 2000 World’s Forage Analysis Superbowl©. Forage growers from across the United States and Canada vied for forage quality awards by entering their high quality samples that were tested and judged to determine final placing. Dairymen know that quality forage production is the backbone to their dairy profitability.
The close ties of premium forages and dairy production make the forage quality emphasis a natural for the World Dairy Expo. This year the Forage Superbowl was not just a contest but also an opportunity for producers to hear experts speak about latest findings that could improve forage and milk profitability. Visitors had opportunites to ask questions on how this latest research could benefit their operation. In addition the exceptional forage contest entries on display were great
specimens used as examples throughout the presentations and questions. Each contest entry was analyzed for dry matter, crude protein, acid and neutral detergent fiber, insoluble crude protein, estimated digestible dry matter and relative feed value.
This year marks the 16th Annual World’s Forage Analysis Superbowl©. Since its beginning, Schoessow Inc., has been a prize sponsor of the forage contest.
