The American Dairy Science Association (ASDA), located in Champaign, Illinois, is the “Voice of Science” for the global dairy industry. The dairy industry has the potential to contribute to the nutritional needs of every person on earth, yet thousands go hungry. Research, education, and communication can succeed in breaking down the barriers that separate hunger and good nutrition. ADSA and its Foundation are devoted to finding the most efficient, productive, and prosperous supply of dairy products to feed the people of the world.
The ADSA Board of Directors seeks an executive director who will manage research, education, and knowledge-sharing programs and services that advance the vision, mission, and values of ADSA and its Foundation. Operating in a highly collegial and inclusive environment, the executive director will report to the ADSA Board of Directors in coordination with the ADSA president.
Ideal candidates will have at least five years of association or related business management experience, with a deep appreciation for the dairy industry and science-based solutions for economic, environmental, and social challenges. A successful record of working with a volunteer board of directors and sound financial management are required. A strategic, member-centric, and collaborative leadership style is important. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree, particularly in science, is desirable. Leadership experience in a scientific organization and proven ability to manage headquarters office operations are desirable.
