The annual banquet of the Fresno State Dairy Club attracted some 200 students, family and friends on Mar. 16 on campus at the animal science pavilion. Club president Makayla Toste welcomed the group. Ag College Dean Dr. Sandra Witte provided an update while Dr. Kyle Thompson, professor in charge, gave an overview of the year. Two alumni were recognized for their support of the club and the effort to revitalize the dairy program on campus. Ken Melvold of Fresno has helped upgrade the herd, managed a fund-raising cattle sale and led efforts to mobilize alumni. Ed Genasci of Gen-Ace Holsteins at Modesto has coordinated efforts to have top animals brought into the herd. A benefit auction of donated items rounded out the evening’s program.
