Caputo Cheese Dominates Burrata and Mozzarella Categories

At 2018 World Championship Cheese Contest

Caputo Cheese, renowned for offering high quality dairy products, received three prestigious awards at this year’s World Championship Cheese Contest in Madison, Wis. Earning first and second place within the burrata and fresh mozzarella categories gave Caputo the opportunity to compete in the esteemed finalist round.


The family-owned company impressed judges with a burrata that combines fine mozzarella and fresh, full-fat cream in a soft mozzarella shell. The perfected cheese was titled Best of Class in the highly competitive burrata category before being selected to compete in the contest’s World Championship Round. The outstanding taste and body of Caputo Cheese’s burrata earned the delicate cheese a coveted finalist spot, placing in the top 20 cheeses out of 3,400 entries.

Burratini, a smaller version of Caputo Cheese’s signature burrata, placed second in the burrata class. The creamy 4 oz. cheese was surpassed only by Caputo Cheese’s own original 16 oz. burrata, demonstrating Caputo Cheese’s mastery in crafting burrata cheeses of all sizes.


Caputo Cheese’s Nodini knots triumphed over 38 other entries to win first place in the fresh mozzarella class. The creamy taste and supple texture of the handcrafted Nodini knots made it the clear winner to the World Championship Cheese Contest’s panel of expert judges.

The World Championship Cheese Contest is the most prestigious cheese competition in the world. The 2018 competition received a record 3,400 entries from 26 countries and 32 U.S. states. Caputo Cheese has been a staple at the World Championship Cheese Contest since winning their first award in 1999. This year’s contest marks an impressive performance for the family-oriented company, confirming that Caputo Cheese’s finely crafted products are a hit with consumers and judges alike.
