Farm and ranch families make up only 2 percent of the U.S. population, but manage to feed and clothe the growing population every day. National Farmer’s Day on October 12 is an opportunity to celebrate the hard-working men and women devoted to providing foods that connect us, especially the farmers who bring delicious dairy to our plates.
“Dairy farmers are passionate about what they do, and National Farmer’s Day is a chance to showcase their devotion and encourage communities to do the same,” says Marty McKinzie, vice-president of industry image and relations with Dairy MAX.
It’s also a day dedicated to learning more about dairy farming. Dairy MAX encourages people to not only celebrate farmers, but to ask a farmer if they have questions about dairy farming or where milk comes from. Dairy farmers work 365 days a year to feed millions because of their love and passion for their work. They are stewards of the land and their cows, ensuring the environment is sustained for generations to come.
Interacting on social media is an easy way to get involved on National Farmer’s Day. Undeniably Dairy™ has created customized profile frames that will be available on Facebook on October 12. Participate by using hashtags #NationalFarmersDay and #UndeniablyDairy when posting photos of farming, raising a glass of milk or even using dairy in your favorite recipe!
Founded more than 40 years ago, Dairy MAX is one of the leading regional dairy councils in America – representing more than 900 dairy farmers and serving communities in seven states: Colorado, southwest Kansas, Montana, New Mexico, western Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. A nonprofit organization, Dairy MAX is part of a nationwide effort to promote American agriculture, support dairy farming and drive impact for every dairy farmer. The organization operates five audience outreach programs: business development, consumer marketing, health and wellness, industry image and relations and school marketing.
