Katie Sherer is a Senior in Biological and Ecological Engineering (formerly known as Agricultural Engineering) at Oregon State University. She is the daughter of Brett and Kristi Sherer, from Tillamook.
She has a strong background in the dairy industry, being actively engaged with calf care, record keeping, milking, and other chores at her family’s dairy farm, Mistvale. Katie was the high individual in the State FFA Dairy Judging Contest and earned a Gold Metal at the National FFA Dairy Judging Competition.
The purpose of a biological and ecological degree is to use engineering practices to enhance and protect the quality of our land, water and air. Her long-range goal is to live and work in a rural area helping farmers continue to be successful and great stewards of our natural resources. Her areas of interest include flood mitigation, stormwater runoff, and stream bank erosion.
A special thank you to the Oregon Dairy Women for their continued facilitation of the scholarship interviews and selection of the ODFA scholarship recipient.
