PDPW to Host Tours at Second Look Holsteins, LLC and Vir-Clar Farms on Oct. 24
Blending a ration for top production is an ongoing challenge for dairy producers; a difficult growing season this year makes it an even-more ambitious task. A daylong chartered bus tour hosted by the Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) will showcase feeding strategies at two successful Fond du Lac County dairies.
The PDPW Dairy Feed Management, Storage, and Tracking Tours will be held Thur., October 24, departing from the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, 625 W. Rolling Meadows Dr. in Fond du Lac, Wis., at 9:30 a.m.
Attendees will tour the innovative and tailor-made feed storage area at Vir-Clar Farms, Fond du Lac, Wis., where the Boyke families use a TMR Tracker software system to manage feed inventory and monitor feed costs. At Second Look Holsteins, LLC, Eden, Wis., the Hodorff families will share their experience of feeding a consistent ration year-round when using only corn silage and Western dry hay as forages.
The lunch roundtable discussion will feature insights from Corey Hodorff, Second Look Holsteins, LLC, Grant Grinstead, Vir-Clar Farms, and Andy Skwor, Agricultural Services Team Leader, MSA Professional Services, Inc., Baraboo.
Space is limited to the first 40 registrations and includes bus travel, refreshments and lunch. To learn more and to register, visit www.pdpw.org or contact PDPW at 1-800-947-7379.
