Deadline Extended – Attention Dairy, Livestock, Ag. Producers and Allied Industry

Attention: Dairy, Livestock, Agriculture Producers and Allied Industry
Chairman of the Judiciary Rep Bob Goodlatte’s “Agricultural Guestworker Act” (AG Act) continues to move toward introduction in the House of Representatives. The Chairman is allowing additional time for stakeholder input before formal introduction of the AG Act.
This additional time allows you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the latest version of the bill and provide Laurie Fischer with your comments, suggestions, etc. for her to discuss with the Chairman.
This is a very heavy lift that needs your immediate attention and action. The ADC, with member support, has worked extremely hard with Rep. Goodlatte to create this opportunity. Take the time NOW to review this information and call or email with your support today.
We have waited 20 years for a realistic solution to our industry’s labor shortages. With much anticipation, a legislative bill creating a new visa category will be introduced shortly. The bill is called “The Agricultural Guestworker Act of 2017 (AG Act)” and it will create a new visa category called the H-2C.  Dairy, livestock, agriculture, food processors and other agricultural employers may use this new H-2C visa program to finally fill the jobs they so urgently need.
I’ve been working closely with Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Bob Goodlatte (VA-R) and his Senior Counsel on this new Guestworker visa bill. Contact me if you would like me to send you the bill language. After speaking with the Chairman’s Senior Counsel, I expect Chairman Goodlatte will make a few minor changes to the bill. However, it is very important to move full speed ahead with a letter of support.  We must make this bill work. Our industry can no longer wait and I believe the Chairman is working in good faith with us.
I’m asking you to support this bill and allow me to add your name as one of the united group of supporters. It is imperative we have this letter completed before this bill is marked up (process by which a U.S. Congressional Committee makes statements, debates and discusses amendments on the bill) by the House Judiciary Committee. I’m expecting this to take place the second week of September. Our united support will not only show the Judiciary Committee Members we can’t wait any longer for reform, it also will entice all legislators, who work on your behalf in D.C., to sign on as a co-sponsor of this bill.
I need your assistance with the below (2) items:
1. Review the below linked documents and e-mail me as soon as possible to let me know if I can add your name to our unified letter of support (see attached letter). I will not distribute the letter of support until after Chairman Goodlatte introduces his bill, allowing us time to understand any language changes which might have been made. However, until the final language is provided, please utilize the attached documents to understand what is contained in the bill. After the bill is introduced, I will send you an e-mail with any tweaks that were made. We won’t have much time between introduction of the bill and the mark up.
2. Send your own letter of support for The Agricultural Guestworker Act of 2017 to Chairman Goodlatte’s Senior Counsel Stephanie (Myers) Gadbois at: [email protected] Please carbon copy me on this letter; [email protected]
3. RSVP to the American Dairy Coalition’s informative presentation on the AG Act taking place at this year’s World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin:

The AG Act must pass through the House Judiciary Committee, which is the first step toward making sure our farmers and agriculture businesses have the reliable workforce they need to sustain and grow their businesses, ensuring our industry will flourish. All of us must work on this together and we only have a few weeks to get this accomplished. I hope I can count on your support of our efforts.
Thank you for your assistance. Feel free to contact me at[email protected] or call me at 920-366-1880 with questions.
Best Regards,
Laurie Fischer – CEO and Founder
