When the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences receives a donation in someone’s honor, it’s often in memory of someone who has passed away. But that’s not how Larry and Debbie Swindle like to do things.
“If you’re going to give a gift in someone’s name, why not do it while they are alive so they can enjoy the moment?” said Debbie Swindle.
So this past year, when the couple decided to make a gift to the UF/IFAS Extension 4-H program, they created an endowment honoring one of the program’s longtime champions, Nick Place, dean of UF/IFAS Extension.
