Farm Credit East Provides Scholarships to Four Future Agriculture Leaders

Farm Credit East recently awarded four scholarships to students involved in The National FFA Organization (Future Farmers of America). The student recipients exemplified a strong Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) and expressed a clear understanding of their project’s impact on their future career in an agriculturally related field.

“Farm Credit East is committed to supporting the next generation of Northeast agriculture,” said Farm Credit East CEO Bill Lipinski. “These deserving students aspire to careers in agriculturally related fields, and their SAE projects are an important part of their development. We’re pleased to support their endeavors.”

The following students each received a $500 scholarship to support their current SAE project or to enhance their knowledge of the agriculture, commercial fishing or forest products industries.

  • Sabrina Thompson, of Indian River Central School and FFA chapter, in Philadelphia, NY. Her SAE focuses on dairy production and marketing.
  • Grace Dunham, of Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School and FFA chapter, in Cobleskill, NY. Through her diversified livestock SAE she raises, shows and markets Jersey cattle, Nigerian Dwarf goats, chickens, ducks and pigs.

  • Emily Starceski, of Sherman Central School and FFA chapter, in Sherman, NY. Her SAE has allowed her to build her own herd of Holstein cattle and improve the genetics of both her and her parents’ herds.
