The Dietary Guidelines for Americans are updated just once every five years, and they have significant influence on federal nutrition programming, such as school breakfast and lunch. Right now, we are at a critical juncture in the development of the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, as the U.S. Departments of Agriculture (USDA) and Health and Human Services (HHS) are set to finalize the guidelines in December.
If you haven’t yet, please join IDFA in advocating for broader incursion of dairy in the Dietary Guidelines with top officials at USDA and HHS. It takes just two minutes to visit the IDFA Campaign Center, fill out your contact information, and send a preformatted letter to the secretaries and chiefs of staff at these two agencies. Your advocacy will show a united front in support of science-based recommendations encouraging Americans to consume dairy in their healthy dietary patterns.
