Free online episodes offer insights to help producers make informed decisions
Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW), announces the line-up of speakers for week 39 of The Dairy Signal™. The final week of 2020 features Dr. Paul Fricke, Dairy Reproduction Specialist, University of Wisconsin-Madison, with the latest on dairy fertility research, and the final agricultural market update of 2020 from Dan Basse, Economist and President of AgResource Company.
On Tuesday’s episode, Dr. John Goeser, PhD, Director of Nutritional Research & Innovation at Rock River Lab, Inc., and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Dairy Science Department at UW-Madison, and Dr. Matt Akins, Assistant Scientist and Extension Dairy Specialist at UW-Madison, shared results of research to date comparing starch quality and fiber quality of 2020 silage samples with previous years. They also provided strategies and research for optimizing forage supplies for feeding both milking herd and replacement heifers.
Dr. Neil Michael, Manager of Ruminant Field Technical Services with Arm & Hammer, led Wednesday’s episode with a review of critical factors in managing heifers and cows during the transition cycle, including nutrition, managing pen space and group movements, and understanding your dairy’s unique needs.
