Envita makes Fast Company’s list of world’s
most innovative companies
Azotic North America, maker of Envita nitrogen-fixing bacteria, is recognized by Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2020 as the only naturally-occurring, food-grade microbe to help farmers meet increasing global demand on our food supply while helping combat dependence on nitrogen-based fertilizers.
The universal use of nitrogen fertilizer in modern agriculture is required to optimize crop productivity. Until now, farmers wanting to reduce their use of nitrogen fertilizer would also be looking at a reduction in yield potential – use less to produce less – a solution that addresses only half of the equation. Envita changes this equation.
Envita moves inside the plant cells growing with the plant to fix nitrogen all season long, when and where the plant needs it most. Applied to the seed, Envita has proven success with farmers throughout the US corn belt, reducing the need for applied N fertilizer on average 27% while maintaining yield.

Now available in all US states, Envita is in its second year of commercial production in the USA following a farm scale trial program in 2018 and 6 years of global research trials.
Envita is a naturally-occurring, food grade microbe that provides plants with the ability to fix their own nitrogen from the air replacing an average of 27% of their nitrogen needs in corn. When applied in furrow or on seed, Envita grows with the plant, metabolizing nitrogen from the atmosphere (which is 78% nitrogen). Growers can choose to use Envita with their regular fertility program for a yield boost or deliver same yields using less nitrogen.
