Outstanding Classification Yields 99 New Excellent Sires at Select Sires
PLAIN CITY, Ohio, July 11, 2017 — Select Sires had an outstanding classification day in June highlighted by 99 new Excellent sires. Time-tested powerhouses lead the way with Showcase Selections™ sire, and top-ranking Canadian conformation sire, 7HO9264 DEMPSEY garnering five points to go Excellent (93) at 11-years-old. Gold Medal sires, 7HO10849 SHAMROCK, 7HO11351 SUPERSIRE and 7HO11169 PETRONE all scored Excellent (90).
Perennial favorite 7HO8081 PLANET and his son, 7HO10721 BOOKEM, were both granted two points to go Excellent (92) at 14-years-old and Excellent (90) at eight-years-old, respectively. PLANET’s great-grandson, 7HO12198 KINGBOY, and his son, 7HO12726 KING TUT, both reached Excellent (92), completing six generations of Excellent-scored sires in the PLANET line.
The Holstein breed’s greatest sires of this decade looked as good as they transmit. Gaining two points, 7HO11314 MOGUL went Excellent (93). His son, the No. 1 GTPI® proven sire of the Holstein breed, 7HO12165 MONTROSS, is now Excellent (92) and his son, 7HO13250 JEDI, scored Excellent (91) on his first classification. Two more MONTROSS sons, 7HO13251 JETT and GenerVations sire, 250HO13267 DUKE, both received an Excellent (90) classification score as they paraded before the classifier for the first time.
The breed’s number two GTPI sire, 7HO12266 YODER, went Excellent (90) on his first classification. Also ranked among the breed’s top 10 GTPI sires, 7HO12105 REFLECTOR took one of the biggest jumps of the day with five points to classify Excellent (91) while 7HO11752 BOB and 7HO11621 MAYFLOWER both gained a point to score Excellent (92). A pair of high GTPI 7HO10524 ROBUST sons, 7HO11585 STERLING and 7HO11833 RENNIE, scored Excellent (90), and MOGUL son 7HO12014 DAVINCI scored Excellent (92). All of these exciting lineup sires are available in gender SELECTed™ semen!
Exemplifying their Showcase Selections designation, several bulls with the title earned Excellent classification scores including, 7HO12587 DIAMONDBACK (EX-93), 7HO12042 CORVETTE (EX-92), 7HO12353 BEEMER (EX-92), 7HO12464 CHROME (EX-92) and 7HO12773 KENOSHA (EX-91). GenerVations product line bulls receiving their first classification scores included Showcase Selections sires 550HO12961 DOC, who is Very Good (88) at one-year and eight-months of age, and 250HO12589 JACOBY (EX-90).
