Red Wave Sale to Benefit Fresno State Dairy Department

Red Wave Sale to Benefit Fresno State Dairy Department            A consignment auction sale of Registered Holsteins and Jerseys is set for Oct. 14 on the campus of Fresno State, according to sale manager Ken Melvold. The offering from breeders in California and the West will include some 45 Holsteins and 15 Jerseys. The full proceeds from the sale price of several animals will be donated to the Dairy Department. The Dairy Club will receive funds for their work fitting and caring for the sale animals. And some of the feed, bedding and equipment is being donated, as well.

The sale begins at 2 p.m. at the dairy facility on campus, following a judging contest scheduled for 9 a.m. Also, the California Holstein Association’s annual planning conference is set for 9 a.m. A barbecue lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.

To round out the day, Fresno State fans can attend the evening football game in a section of reserved seats as the Bulldogs take on the Lobos of the University of New Mexico in a Mountain West Conference game. A tailgate party will precede the 7 p.m. kickoff.

Catalogs will be available online at holsteinworld.com and the California Holstein Association web site. For more details, contact Ken Melvold in Fresno at 559.906.1714 or Dr. Kyle Thompson of the Fresno State Dairy Dept. at 209.679.5290.
