Dairy Financial Professionals Will Share Risk Management Fundamentals

Gary Sipiorski, Dairy Development Manager at Vita-Plus, Inc., will provide benchmarking information to help dairy professionals avoid financial risk on Wednesday, September 11 during the Center for Dairy Excellence’s annual Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference.

The conference will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Central Penn Conference Center, located at 600 Valley Road in Summerdale, Cumberland County. Registration is now open at centerfordairyexcellence.org/conference-registration.

“With the ever-changing U.S. dairy industry, the Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference will bring together dairy industry professionals to share their unique experiences and discover how they can better serve their clients,” said Zach Myers, Risk Education Program Manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence.

The tenth annual conference will provide dairy lenders and financial professionals with financial benchmarking and risk management fundamentals, including resources for avoiding financial risk and discussions about dairy industry innovation opportunities.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Current market dynamics
  • Whole farm risk management plans
  • Business planning and decision-making resources
  • Innovation opportunities
  • Best management practices on the farm

In addition to Sipiorski, featured speakers include Christine Brodeur with Dairy Farmers of America’s Risk Management Division. Brodeur will share risk management strategies Dairy Farmers of America members are using and the fundamentals that should be part of any effective risk management plan.

“Risk management is always important, but especially in an uncertain marketplace,” Myers said. “With several new programs available to manage on-farm risk, such as Dairy Margin Coverage and Dairy Revenue Protection, attendees can expect to gain a better understanding of how to guide their clients when developing whole farm risk management plans.”

The conference will also feature several panel discussions, including a session designed to help producers through mergers, acquisitions and liquidations. Panel speakers will discuss innovation opportunities in dairy, both domestically and in the global marketplace.

Cost of attendance is $200 per person, including meals, and discounted to $150 per person for those who are representatives of Center Allies for Advancement with a bronze level or higher.

Registration for the conference closes on September 4, 2019. For more information, visit centerfordairyexcellence.org or call 717-346-0849.
