The board of directors of St. Albans Cooperative Creamery (SACC) has voted unanimously to recommend to its membership a merger with DFA. The merger proposal, discussed by SACC members at an informational member meeting today, reflects a desire to position SACC members for a secure, long-term future amid rapidly changing market dynamics. SACC has nearly 350 members in Vermont, New York and New Hampshire.
DFA’s Board of Directors has endorsed and approved the proposal. If approved by SACC membership, SACC members would become members of DFA effective on the date of closing, which is currently scheduled for August 1, 2019. In addition, SACC’s manufacturing facility, retail store, lab and hauling business, McDermotts, would be part of the transaction and would be owned and operated by DFA following the closing.
