For more than 30 years we have published our collegiate directory, Dairy Leaders of Tomorrow. It’s been our pleasure to work with several generations of university staff and students to publicize educational programs for dairy youth beyond high school. The goal is to encourage young people, both from farms and in town, to get education after high school in subjects related to dairy production and agribusiness. Now more than ever, dairy and ag are highly complex professions for which advanced education is extremely beneficial, even if not absolutely required. And nearly as important for many students are the experiences, contacts and friends made that will provide opportunities, and enjoyment, long after graduation.
The Directory consists of alphabetic listings of four-year and two-year programs including information about degrees offered, course work, staff, tuition, scholarships and contact information. We also profile several college programs in different parts of the country that are trying new and different approaches, designed at giving the prospective student a little more insight into college life.
We have also had photo and video competitions open to dairy clubs on campus, again, designed to showcase the enthusiasm of today’s college students in dairy. Right now we’re working on the 2018 edition which will appear in print in the November issue of HolsteinWorld Exclusive and online in the November 6 edition of DairyBusiness Digital Magazine. It will continue to be available on line throughout the coming year.
We’re reaching out to a broad range of educational institutions virtually as I’m speaking. We invite inquiries… just contact our Carol Moyer by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 315.329.6578. I would also be happy to speak with you about this effort.
