Women in Dairy Conference to be held December 3

Penn State Extension

Registration deadline November 20

Register now for the 2019 Women in Dairy Conference, scheduled for December 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Best Western Premier Hotel, Harrisburg. Hosted by Penn State’s Extension Dairy Team, this women-specific conference planned and carried out by women leaders in the industry offers the chance to network with others involved in dairy while hearing from uplifting and supportive speakers.

Keynote speaker is Sadie Frericks, a dairy farmer, mother of three and writer from central Minnesota, who blogs about life on their Blue Diamond Dairy at www.DairyGoodLife.com. She promotes agriculture through social media as @dairygoodlife. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, she has a degree in agricultural communications and marketing. She is a Land O’Lakes Cooperative Alternate Delegate and serves as a director for Cooperative Network and Dairy Girl Network.  Her topic will be “Learning to FLY: Self-care for Dairy Farmers.”

Breakout sessions will include presentations by Extension personnel, dairy farm women and other industry professionals. Workshops will include both up-to-date management information and practical steps for managing the stress that comes from the many roles carried out by farm women – from managing the farm to coordinating family activities to serving in the community.

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Best Western Premier Hotel, Harrisburg. Call the hotel directly at 717-561-2800 for reservations and the group rate.

Registration cost is $72 per person, with a buy three-get-one-free offer. All four registrants must be registered together as one group.

A pre-conference reception will be held on December 2 from 7-8:30 p.m. and is open to all attendees. There is no cost to attend the reception, and it will provide an opportunity for attendees to socialize and network prior to the conference.

The committee expressed gratitude to the generosity of the sponsors of the program: AgChoice Farm Credit, American Dairy Association NE, Center for Dairy Excellence, Land O’Lakes, PA Dairymens Association and Select Sires.
