Call for proposals now open for Northeast SARE Graduate Student Research Grants
The program funds graduate student research focused on sustainable agriculture using either or both natural and social science approaches. Proposals are capped at $15,000 and should address issues of current or potential importance to Northeast farmers and the agricultural community.

All research must be conducted between Aug. 1, 2021, and Nov. 30, 2024, in the Northeast region, which includes Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Women; Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC); members of the LGBTQ+ community and students enrolled in minority-serving institutions, including 1890s and other historically Black colleges and universities, Hispanic-serving institutions and tribal colleges and universities, are encouraged to submit proposals.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Northeast SARE offers competitive grants to conduct sustainable agriculture research and education projects. It is housed within University of Vermont (UVM) Extension, a unit of UVM’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
