Rogue Creamery Introduces Cheese is Love™ Cheddar to Give Back to a Community in Need

The campaign allows Rogue to sustain a long-term donation stream

Rogue Creamery, maker of the World’s Best Cheese, believes in using cheese as a force for good. Cheese is LoveCheddar was created out of a deep commitment to Rogue’s Southern Oregon community. The extra-mature sharp cheddar allows Rogue fans the chance to help give back. For every pound of Cheese is Love™ Cheddar purchased, a pound will be donated to the families in need. The combined impacts of apandemic and the Almeda fire that devastated Oregon last fall have caused thousands to lose their homes and livelihoods and the community hasexpressed a need for food. For months, Rogue Creamery has donated thousands of pounds of cheese to non-profits and food banks, but as a small, artisan cheese company, they needed a way to keep up with demand. So the idea of Cheese is LoveCheddar was born.

“We saw cheese makers creating short-term solutions through programs like GoFundMe and a Farm-to-Box program but these efforts weren’t sustainable for the long-term. The Cheese is Love campaign will provide a simple pay it forward concept where people can purchase cheese and know all the proceeds are going to those who need it most,” says Rogue Creamery president David Gremmels.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the demand for cheese donations has grown to 1,000 pounds, donated every other week through ACCESS and Rogue Food Unites. Together, Rogue Creamery partner Airstream Adventures and Rogue Creamery President David Gremmels provided seed money to kickstart the Cheese is Love™ campaign. In the spirit of paying it forward, Taylor Made Labels and West Coast Paper have both donated some of the packaging materials required to share this cheese with the community

“We can definitely see the positive long-term effects this will have on our community and surrounding areas. As a B-Corp, we have a culture of giving back, says Gremmels. The pandemic and wildfires have made business difficult for many, but it hasn’t stopped Rogue from finding ways to provide for the community.

Cheese is Love will be available on January 20 in honor of National Cheese Lover’s Day. Cheese lovers can buy Cheese is Love Cheddar at the Rogue Creamery Cheese Shop in Central Point, the Rogue Creamery Farm Stand in Grants Pass and at
